Narrative Change Management in American Studies

Why is it that research and teaching collaboration between business studies and the humanities rarely happens? This book (habilitation project) explores the roots of this disciplinary culture clash and works out the synergies and potential deriving from a more inclusive understanding of the goals and values of American Studies. It offers a creative reading of core works of management and business studies, including „The Iceberg Is Melting“ by John Kotter and Peter Drucker’s classic „The Concept of the Cooperation.“ Based on these insights, the crucial role of narrative is explored, both for organizational change and for changing disciplinary cultures. This is a cross-disciplinary border walk that is still visionary in the sense that the implementation of fruitful business studies and humanities collaboration is far from being realized.
